Week 1: Cows

The C. family is currently using some ideas from Brightly Beaming Resources to help add a bit more structure to get through the approaching cold winter days. For 26 weeks they will recognize a theme, shape/color, number, and letter with a corresponding field trip.

2.5 year old A poses in front of his cow spots he taped onto the wall

Theme: Cows.
Vocabulary word: Calf
Shape: Square
Number: 1
Letter: A
Nursery Rhyme: Hey Diddle, Diddle
Field Trip: Smiley Cattle

Highlight of week 1. include; sticking "cow spots" all over the play room, milking a latex glove, making our own cheese (ricotta), drawing the letter 'A' in yogurt, adding 1 to the number notebook, eating breakfast at chickfila, using puppets to act out Hey Diddle, Diddle, and a field trip to Smiley farm to observe cows.

  2. Hi Jennifer, I am a friend of your moms and have home schooled some of my kids, some of the time. A few resources I loved when my kids were little were: Teaching your Children Joy, by Linda and Richard Eyre and the Five in a Row series - there is one for younger kids. What a fun time in your young ones lives!
